How a Women Empowerment Photoshoot Can Inspire Your Life

Seattle couple's photographer

A women empowerment photoshoot is so much more than a day in front of the camera — it’s a reclamation. It’s an act of remembering who you are beneath the noise, expectations, and roles you’ve carried for so long.

When a woman steps into her own light, something sacred happens. She begins to see herself not through the lens of comparison, but through the eyes of truth — strong, soft, powerful, and wildly human. The camera becomes a mirror that reflects the parts of her she’s forgotten or hidden: her courage, her sensuality, her story. EVERYONE IS ART. Your story is uniquely yours.

WHAT TO WEAR TO YOUR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT SHOOT

Think earthy, soft, and slightly muted tones—colors that complement nature without getting lost in it.

  • cream, ivory, soft white

  • warm beige and tan

  • rust, terracotta, burnt orange

  • muted sage (lighter than the trees)

  • dusty blue and soft gray

  • warm browns and clay tones

These colors create a palette that feels grounded, natural, and timeless—while still drawing the eye to you.

What to Avoid (and Why)

Deep greens, black, and navy can blend into the forest, especially in shaded areas. That being said, I KNOW BLACK IS NECESSARY so if you bring that bring another option too.

The dark colors in the trees can lose detail in shadows

So, opt for tones that lift you out of the background rather than disappear into it. As you can see black is great in front of the waterfall - but if she stood against the dark rocks you need a color that pops.

During these sessions, you move, breathe, laugh, and simply exist in your body with reverence. The experience can shift something deep inside — a reminder that you don’t need permission to take up space, to be seen, or to feel beautiful exactly as you are.

Long after the photos are taken, the impact lingers. You start to carry yourself differently. You speak softer to your reflection. You remember that power doesn’t always roar — sometimes it whispers through stillness and grace.

A women empowerment photoshoot is not about vanity. It’s about visibility. It’s about honoring every chapter of your life as you change and grow — the messy, the radiant, the whole. It’s a celebration of your story, your strength, and your sacred feminine essence.

Because when you see yourself in your full truth, you begin to live that truth — boldly, unapologetically, and free.

We did this outdoor Women Empowerment Photoshoot in two sessions. The first is about an hour hike up. The waterfall is a short hike, but we did it at 6 am to avoid the crowds, so we both left our homes in Seattle at 5 am. Both shoots we choose a few looks, some dresses from my collection. We started simple and pretty, flowing and feminine- and then we got a little witchy.

Both of these locations are popular spots - so weekday only. And the waterfall below is doable not at 6 am like we did, it can clear out in the evening. But both spaces will have people looking at the same view we are shooting.

Water is Alchemy, and I feel it is so important to incorporate in a shoot. In every culture, water carries meaning. It’s the source of life, cleansing both body and spirit. It represents renewal, intuition, emotion, and the endless cycles of transformation. It moves through us and around us — as rain, tears, rivers, and oceans — each form a reflection of our inner landscape.

WHAT’S MY PROCESS

First, we book a date. Next I take a $250 deposit and we talk location and styling. I shoot in one location since I shoot the two hours before sunset. Some locations allow us to move around and change up the scene. The shoot is usually 90 minutes to two hours. The rest of the payment is due the day we shoot. The following days you will see 20 or so sneak peeks from our session. My turn around time is 4-6 weeks. You will typically receive 80-100 images.

This shoot was two locations so it would be $2300 - with a small travel fee.

You bring touch ups, the outfits, and I recommend flip flops incase we do barefoot or water shots. I bring a few props, and some fun poses for you.

If we shoot somewhere chilly like this waterfall at 6 am- bring a hot beverage for in between shots.

Women Empowerment Sessions are currently $1100.00

and are going up soon! I take a $250 deposit to hold your date, the rest due the day we shoot. This fine lady chose TWO locations so we did two separate shoots as I stated above:)

You will receive them in a downloadable online gallery with high resolution images and from there it is easy to download the high resolution or web size images and that gallery stays live for a year.

You buy or choose a few dresses/outfits/looks. I do have a few to choose from but only in size small medium. I can send you places to shop.

I love JOYFOLIE (link) and HOLY CLOTHING (link) for a more witchy fairy vibe.

Thank you to this gorgeous woman, for choosing me, trusting me, being vulnerable with me, for hiking, getting up early, feeling uncomfortable, and sharing your story with me.
