Couple’s Wedding Photoshoot in the Magical PNW - Seattle Couple’s and Elopement Photographer
This beautiful newlywed team just got married a month before this shoot on Whidbey Island(see previous blog) It was one of the best weddings I have ever shot! These two are a dream to work with, so much fun. The waterfall brought a light chilly spray that helped keep them awake:) They wanted some photographs of them outside of the wedding venue, so we choose an epic spot, took a small hike, and had some fun.
This beautiful goddess wanted to get in the water for this photoshoot, and we knew that wasn’t happening in the wedding dress:) I brought one from my personal collection for her to take a dip in. Brave beautiful soul, that mountain water is cold. The energy of water is such a powerful thing.
Tips to Prepare for Your Couple’s Photoshoot
Your photoshoot isn’t just about pretty pictures — it’s about connection, energy, and presence. It’s about capturing the small, unspoken ways you love each other: the laughter, the glances, the way your hands find one another without thinking. Here’s how to prepare so that your photos feel real and full of life.
Before the shoot, take a quiet moment together. Reflect on what this season of your relationship feels like — playful, grounded, adventurous, or tender. When you arrive with that energy, it naturally comes through in the images.
Choose outfits that make you feel comfortable and confident. Earth tones, flowy fabrics, and textures photograph beautifully in natural light. Avoid anything too tight or distracting — the goal is movement, not perfection. You can even bring a cozy layer or blanket to wrap up in together.
Spend time together before your shoot — grab coffee, take a walk, or listen to your favorite song in the car. This helps you arrive already connected and relaxed, so the camera just becomes a quiet witness to your love.
Don’t worry about posing. Focus on each other — talk, laugh, whisper secrets, dance, or simply breathe together. I’ll guide you when needed, but the magic always happens in between the prompts, in the moments that can’t be staged.
Bring meaningful details. For this shoot, their wedding clothes were enough! A favorite hat, a handwritten note, a picnic blanket, or even your dog — small personal touches tell your story and make your session uniquely yours. Play guitar? Bring it!
The best photos happen when you forget the camera exists. Feel the wind, the light, the closeness. Let go of expectations and just be.
Thank you A+S - may you live a long and happy life together! You’ve started it off right. Thank you for being here.
