How to Prepare for Your Senior Photos – While Staying Unapologetically YOU- West Seattle Senior Photographer
This session was so fun. I love to get a little creative. Senior photos aren’t just “pictures.” They’re a celebration of who you are in this exact moment of your life—before everything shifts into something new. And the truth is… the best senior photos happen when you show up as yourself. Not who you think you should be. Not what you see on Pinterest. Just you.
Here’s how to prepare for photos that feel honest, personal, and beautifully real:
1. Wear what makes you feel like YOU
Although there ARE COLORS that POP in nature - like ivory, rust orange, light brown or blue (earth tones) Colors that make you stand out from the background (steer clear of forest green in the forest) What is more important - if you don’t have favorite things in those tones, BE YOU!
Not what’s trendy. Not what you think the camera wants.
Ask yourself:
✨ What outfit makes me feel confident?
✨ What feels comfortable to move in?
✨ What feels most “me”?
If it’s a favorite jacket or sneakers you’ve worn for years—bring them. Personality over perfection, always.
Bring pieces of your story
Little details photograph beautifully:
your guitar
your sketchbook
your favorite book
even your pup
This is your season—let’s document what shaped it.
Choose a location that speaks to you
Mountains, ocean, forest, downtown murals—nature or city—you can’t go wrong.
But choose somewhere that feels like home to your soul.
You’ll relax more.
You’ll feel more connected.
Your photos will show it.
Let go of “perfect.”
Wind happens.
Laughing till your nose scrunches happens.
Movement happens.
Those are the moments that feel the most alive.
Perfection is forgettable.
Real is unforgettable.
Black really stands out at the beach! Really it’s an open color pallet. If the sky was super blue that day which it wasnt, think of colors that go good with the sky. I like black, ivory, rust, browns, even a mustard yellow.
We shoot about an hour and a half, I guide you the entire time. I am dorky and fun, and make you feel at ease. Senior Sessions are 1100.00 and the first step is a 200 deposit, the rest due the day we shoot. The days after the session you will see about 20 sneak peeks. My turn around time is 6 weeks. If you need something sooner, let me know. I do love to travel for these sessions. The most epic location is Artists Point in August September, I have several blogs on this location. We shot this at Lincoln Park in West Seattle.
