Cinematic Couple’s Photoshoot in the Seattle Cityscape
All you need to know about your cinematic Storytelling city adventure couple’s shoot with Dawndra
I know there is a lot of nature on my site. I am a nature girl. But that 15% of me that loves the city needs to come out sometimes. And it’s so much fun.
I was super nervous about this session before hand because it was in the city on a WEEKEND. I was literally shitting myself with anxiety, which was totally silly. Step into your fears! What did I fear? That I would never ever find a parking spot and the crowds of people would be too much to handle. Clearly I was freaking out for no reason. Both of those things were true, but ALSO we dealt with it and had SO MUCH FUN. They wanted a more cinematic feel. A storytelling adventure. Grainy, movement, imperfect, movement. I am all about that vibe. We got to walk around for an hour and a half and just dip into pockets of light and all of the beautiful textures and colors of the city.
Cinematic photos aren’t created by perfection.
They’re created by presence, movement, and connection—
by letting yourself exist inside the moment instead of trying to control it.
Because the best images don’t look staged…
they feel like something you lived.
Think of it as a story. Meeting each other after time apart,
walking with no destination
sharing something unspoken
Play it out. Let it unfold. That’s where the magic lives.
The most cinematic images happen when you forget the camera is there.
Stay close.
Touch often.
Look at each other more than the lens.
Your connection is the focus—the camera just witnesses it.
A cinematic couple’s session isn’t about posing perfectly—it’s about creating a feeling. Think less “stand here and smile” and more like you’re stepping into a scene from a film where your connection is the story.
The environment becomes part of your story—so choose one that matches your energy as a couple.
Let It Feel Like a Date, Not a Photoshoot
The best images happen when you’re doing, not just standing.
Walk together.
Hold hands without thinking. I will guide you through this the entire shoot.
Whisper something that makes the other laugh.
Treat it like time carved out just for you—because when it feels real, it looks real.
