Women of Sedona- Sedona, Arizona Portrait Photographer
Alright Sedona, here I come! These dark rainy days of Seattle are getting me SO excited to take a break and change it up for a few months. I am so grateful every day for the opportunity to create in a different landscape every year. I decided to do a long post showcasing a ton of the shoots I have done in Sedona, Arizona. In Seattle I photograph a big variety of sessions, and for whatever reason, I call it the Universe sending me these women as gifts, I do mostly Women Empowerment Sessions in Sedona. That’s who gravitates into my orbit.
If you plan on shooting with me, pay close attention to the colors that work in this landscape.
There is no need to talk about why we all love Sedona, is there?
Sedona doesn’t just look beautiful — it feels different. The moment you arrive, the red rocks glow like they’re lit from within, and the air carries a quiet kind of power. It’s the kind of place that asks you to slow down, breathe deeper, and notice more. Many believe Sedona is home to powerful energy vortexes — places where the earth’s energy feels especially strong. Whether you believe in that or not, most people agree on one thing: something in Sedona stirs you. It invites reflection, healing, creativity, and a sense of connection to something greater than yourself.
Sedona is where desert meets forest, where silence meets awe, where stillness feels full instead of empty. It reminds you that beauty doesn’t need to be loud to be profound.
For a photographer, Sedona is a living breathing canvas. The towering red rocks feel ancient and grounding, while the sky constantly shifts the mood — from soft pastels to deep fire tones. Even silence feels textured here. You don’t just photograph Sedona- you translate it.
Every frame holds emotion. The wind in a dress, the glow on skin, the way shadows stretch across the desert floor. It’s a place that invites movement, stillness, and story all at once.
Sedona doesn’t demand perfection — it invites presence. And when people step into its landscape, they soften. They breathe differently. They become part of the scene instead of separate from it. That’s when the most honest images are created.
Sedona is magical because it doesn’t just give you a backdrop — it gives you a feeling. And the best photographs are always born from feeling first.
I apologize this post is so long! As I dug in here I really didn’t want to leave anyone out. When shooting in Sedona, I love hats, scarves, flowy dresses, even jean shorts and a tank, black looks good, Ivory or light brown looks amazing as you see, earth tones are great! Bring more than one option, let’s play!
Make up for many of these shoots was brought to you by Abby Elyse Make Up - don’t hesitate, she’s AMAZING.
